How to register for JAMB UTME 2027: step-by-step guide
Get your profile code by sending your NIN to 55019, buy your ePIN, then register with biometrics at an accredited CBT centre. Here is the full process, step by step.
JAMB has not yet announced the 2027 registration dates. The process below is the one JAMB used for the 2026 UTME; confirm dates and fees on jamb.gov.ng when registration opens.
Before you start
- Get your National Identification Number (NIN). JAMB pulls your name, date of birth and state of origin from NIMC, so make sure they are correct first. A profile code cannot be changed once it is created.
- Use one personal phone number for everything. Your profile code, ePIN and JAMB messages all go to it, and you will need it again for results and CAPS.
- Decide your course, your institutions and your four UTME subjects. Your subjects must match your course's JAMB subject combination.
Step 1: Get your profile code
Send NIN followed by a space and your 11-digit NIN (for example: NIN 12345678901) by SMS to 55019 or 66019. JAMB replies with a 10-character profile code. If you registered before, send RESEND to the same number to get your old code back.
Step 2: Buy your ePIN
Choose UTME (with or without the optional mock) or Direct Entry and pay through JAMB's approved channels. The ePIN arrives by SMS. If you lose it, send UTMEPIN (or DEPIN for Direct Entry) to 55019 or 66019.
Step 3: Register at an accredited CBT centre
Go to a JAMB-accredited CBT centre with your profile code, ePIN, NIN and O'Level details. Your fingerprints and photograph are captured, and you enter your course, institutions and subjects. Registering anywhere else is at your own risk, and no centre may force you to register with them.
Step 4: Check and print your registration slip
Check every detail on the slip before you leave: name, subjects, course and institutions. Keep the slip safe.
Common problems
- 'Unable to verify NIN': wait and try again later.
- 'Phone number linked to another profile': recover that SIM or use a new number.
- Biometric failure: go to the nearest JAMB office.
