How to pass Post-UTME: formats differ by university, so prepare for yours
Post-UTME is not one exam. UNILAG, UI, OAU and UNN each test differently. Find your school's format first, then practise in it. Here is how.
Every university runs its own screening, so the first step is knowing exactly what yours looks like.
How formats differed in 2026/2027
- UI: about 100 CBT questions, 25 from each of your UTME subjects (from UI's notice).
- OAU: in person, about 40 questions covering aptitude and your three non-English UTME subjects (from OAU's notice).
- UNN: online and remotely proctored, on a laptop, with a 30-minute exam (from UNN's instructions).
- UNILAG: reported as online and remotely proctored, about 40 questions in English, Mathematics and General Paper in 30 minutes.
- Some schools, such as UNILORIN, combine your UTME score, Post-UTME score and O'Level grades into one aggregate.
Formats change, so always read your school's notice for your admission year.
A plan that works
1. Find your school's official screening notice: subjects, number of questions, time, mode (in person or online) and the minimum UTME score. 2. Revise your UTME subjects. Most Post-UTME questions come from the same subjects, often at the same level. 3. If there is a General Paper, read current affairs and basic facts about Nigeria and your university. 4. Practise at the real speed. 40 questions in 30 minutes is under a minute each. 5. For online, proctored tests, prepare your laptop, camera, internet and a quiet room before the day, and follow every rule; candidates are disqualified for breaking them. 6. Get your O'Level results ready for upload, because many schools check them during screening.
Avoid 'expo'
Anyone selling Post-UTME 'expo' or promising a pass is a scam. Universities use different questions every year.
AdmitMe has a page for each supported university with its published screening details and practice in its subjects.
