NECO SSCE External 2026: normal registration closes on 26 October

Register before midnight on Monday 26 October. Late registration runs to 3 November with an extra ₦5,000, and the exam starts on 4 November.

Normal registration for NECO's 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (External), often called NECO GCE, ends on Monday 26 October 2026 at 12 midnight. Registration opened on 7 July 2026.

Late registration from 27 October to 3 November 2026 costs an additional ₦5,000. Walk-in registration is ₦43,000 per candidate, and walk-in candidates must register at least three hours before the subject they want to write.

The registration fee is ₦30,000. It includes a four-figure mathematical table and a waterproof certificate jacket. Stamp duty, service and Remita charges are extra, and the fee is not refundable once paid.

How to register: go to ssceexternal.neco.gov.ng, create an account with your email or phone number, buy a registration quota and enter your details. Then visit a reputable cybercafé to capture your fingerprints and finish the registration. You need a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and a passport photograph that is not more than six months old, on a white background.

The exam runs from Wednesday 4 November to Saturday 21 November 2026. It is dual mode: computer-based in some centres, pen and paper in others. There are 16 subjects: Accounting, Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Christian Religious Studies, Civic Education, Commerce, Economics, English Language, General Mathematics, Geography, Government, Islamic Studies, Literature-in-English, Marketing and Physics.

After registering, print at least one clear copy of your photocard. The referee's section must be signed and stamped by one of: the principal of a recognised secondary school, an ordained clergyman or chief imam, a commissioned officer not below the rank of captain or equivalent, a senior civil servant not below GL 14, or a lawyer of at least ten years' experience. Reprint the photocard no later than two weeks before the exam to confirm your centre.

Check every entry before the cybercafé uploads it. NECO allows only one correction after upload, and registering more than once cancels all your results.
